Raphael de la Planche or Sébastien-Francois de la Planche. The suite Apollo and Daphne, a set of four tapestries. After Ovid's Metamorphoses. The composition under the influence of the school of Raphael.

A large polychrome scene with nymphs in a landscape. In the foreground are the seated nymphs, in the background is the hunting Daphne with her dogs. The border has flowers, fruits and a leaf festoon. At the right lower part of the outer border is a fleur-de-lis. Wool and silk. Lined. Restored in 1898 at the Handarbetets Vänner, Stockholm.

Partly worn, slightly dirty, damages, restored, re-woven areas, repairs, some painted areas. Parts of the outer border are later.

Previous in the Bonde collections at Hörningsholm, Theleborg, Hesselby and Rome until the sale at Bukowskis in spring 1986 auction 440, # 1191.
