Gilt-bronze and cut-glass. The middle part with ruby-coloured glass. Height 120 cm, diameter 84 cm.

Cut-glass partly missing and with additions.

A very rare Russian six-light ormolu, cut glass and ruby glass chandelier signed by Fischer, St Petersburg 1797. Signed "FECIT I A S FISCHER ST PETERSBURG 1797”. Height 120, diam 84 cm.
Johann Fischer from Germany came to St Petersburg in the 1780’s and became part of the German copper guild. He became a bronze maker and died in St Petersburg in 1820. He made impressive chandeliers to the Tsar palaces. Some of them are found today at the Hermitage and Ostankino. He also delivered chandeliers to the palace of Count Stroganoff in St Petersburg. At the moment around fourteen chandeliers by Fischer are known.
