A tergo customs mark from the Imperial Customs office in Helsinki, which implies that the painting was imported to Finland from Russia prior to the revolution 1918.
Bought from art dealer Sundman, Helsinki 1945, by the present owner's father.

In the year of 1798, the artist traveled to Helsinki where he executed the first known watercolour of the city. He continued to Stockholm that same year, where he continued to work until his death.
