The St. Andrew-Service was a present from August III. (1734-1763), Elector of Saxon and King of Poland to the Czarina Elisabeth (1741-1761) for dynasty marriage of her son Peter and Anhalt-Zerbst princess Sofia - future Catharina the Great in 1745. The original service was made in Meißen, Saxonia. In the 19th century pieces were produced after the old design in St. Petersburg.
