A George III sterling silver jug, maker's mark of John Deacon, London 1772.

Gilt interior. Embossed and chased rural landscape motif depicting a farmer with a pair of horses, and a cow in the field. Flying birds decorate the spout, unengraved cartouche in the front. Cow shape finial, openwork thumbpiece. Height 24.5 cm, length 21 cm. Weight 1042 g.

The lid with repair: on the inside a later nut, on the top a later plaque marked HH, Henry Holland (active in London 1840-59). A minor rupture in the base. Wear due to age and use.
