More information

Prince Pyotr Mikhailovich Volkonsky (1776–1852), Minister of the Imperial Court and Properties, commissioned an opulent dinner service for the Winter Palace. Designed to serve 60 guests, it included both dinner and dessert sets, comprising a total of 1,500 pieces. Known as the Ministerial Service, it was a symbol of luxury and refinement. In 1853, a significant portion of the service was relocated to Ropsha Palace near Peterhof, where it became known as the Ropsha Service. The palace was one of Nicholas II’s favorite hunting lodges.
