Josef Frank with Friends – Autumn Edition

The autumn edition of the themed auction "Josef Frank with Friends," held in conjunction with Firma Svenskt Tenn's 100th anniversary, is brimming with many of Josef Frank's popular design classics. In addition to the generous Liljevalchs sofa, the five-seater so-called "Långsoffan," originally designed for Kjell and Märta Beijer's home at Säby in the 1940s, is also featured. Estrid Ericson, founder of Firma Svenskt Tenn, loved to fill Josef Frank's display cabinets with all sorts of beautiful objects. Two of these practical small cabinet models are showcased here. This auction also includes several rare vintage pieces of furniture that are no longer in production by the firm, such as the stool with model number 2019 and the early dressing table with model number 521.

It was during the 1930s that Estrid Ericson (1894–1981) began her successful collaboration with the Austrian architect and designer Josef Frank (1885–1967). The first major exhibition of Frank's works for Svenskt Tenn was held at Liljevalchs Art Gallery in 1934, where the generous Liljevalchs sofa was displayed for the first time. Josef Frank went on to create many classics that have enhanced interiors in both homes and public institutions. He made a profound impact on Swedish design history and is today considered one of the most important furniture designers in Sweden during the 20th century. Over time, Frank's furniture and decorative objects have become icons that never seem to go out of style.

Welcome to explore and bid on these design classics in this themed auction!
