Löfling’s account of his travels in Europe and South America 1751-56

Löfling’s account of his travels in Europe and South America 1751-56

Pehr Loefling / Carl von Linné (ed.):

Iter Hispanicum, eller Resa till spanska länderna uti Europa och America, förrättad ifrån år 1751 til år 1756.

Stockholm, Lars Salvius, 1758. 8vo. 20 x 12 cms. [20] + 316 pp. + 2 folding engraved plates.

Worn contemporary quarter calf, occasional light staining and a few neat old annotations, slight discoloration from the binding to corners of initial and final leaves incl. plates, second plate torn in inner margin, leaf M2 with a 2 x 1 cm hole in lower outer margin (paper flaw) with loss of one letter of the catchword. Lithgraphed bookplate ”Bibliotheca G. E. Haartmanni” (engraved by J. F. Martin) and stamp of ”J. G. Winter”, crossed-out inscription dated 1759 of Anders Ryden and later ownership inscription of Richard Sievers. Endleaves attractively used for a rather detailed handwritten index to the work in two columns.

Löfling’s account of his travels in Europe and South America (Venezuela) 1751-56, published by his teacher Linnaeus.
