Sandhamn is a small village on the island of Sandön, situated 70 km east of Stockholm, on the outskirts of the Stockholm archipelago. Due to its strategic location it has played a significant historical role both as the most eastern location for Ship pilots as well as a customs station. By the turn of the century 1900, it became the first island trafficked by steamboats which resulted in a steady influx of summer guests from the artistic and commercial establishment in Stockholm.
