Welcome to Modern Art + Design, Bukowskis anticipated auction dedicated to the pioneers of modern art and the most sought-after design of the 20th century.
Bukowskis are pleased to present a rich selection from the Swedish students of Matisse, where Sigrid Hjertén's masterpiece "The Blue Locomotive" from 1919 is one of the highlights of the auction. For a few years (1908-1911), the French artist Henri Matisse led the independent art-school Academié Matisse in Paris, where some 40 Swedish artists studied. The academy was of great importance for the students' future artistic expression. Additional highlights from some of these artists are Nils Dardel's "Ekipaget", Einar Jolin's "Liggande Modell", and Leander Engström's "Portrait of Countess Bille-Brahe".
The art department also includes significant works by members of the Halmstad group, where Waldemar Lorentzon's "Street musicians" is the most outstanding piece of art. Göteborgskoloristerna (a group of Swedish artists from the west coast) is well represented with several prominent works by, among others, Carl Kylberg.
The furniture and design department includes a wide selection from the golden age of design history. An unusual example is the iconic armchair "Chieftain" / "Chief Justice" by Finn Juhl, with an estimate of 600,000 - 800,000 SEK. Finn Juhl is considered to be one of the most influential designers in Danish furniture design, the Chieftain Chair is considered to be one of Juhl's absolute masterpieces.
The department also offers a rich selection of internationally sought-after Axel Einar Hjorth objects as well as classics from Hans J Wegner, Fritz Hansen, Bruno Mathsson and Josef Frank of course. See also a fantastic bird sculpture by Birger Kaipiainen as well as exquisite rugs by Märta Måås-Fjetterström and Barbro Nilson. Also unique to this spring's auction is the extensive collection of glass, which brilliantly shows the glass development from early Art Nouveau to the 1990s.

Please notice that if you are an online customer, you need to be approved as a hammer auction customer to be able to bid at the auction. Bidding Online
You can participate in the auction in real time via a computer. To submit online bids in excess of SEK 3 million, we need a bank reference. Please email our customer service at info@bukowskis.com to be cleared for this level of online bidding.

Telephone bidding
When you bid by telephone, you are in contact by phone with one of our specialists who makes the bids on your behalf in the auction room. To be contacted by telephone, you need to submit your application for phone bidding by 8 PM on the day before the auction.

Register at Bukowskis, Arsenalsgatan 2 in Stockholm from 9 AM at the day of the auction.
Absentee bidding
If you cannot attend the auction in person, we can bid on your behalf. Our customer service personnel handle the bidding confidentially and strive to obtain the lot for you at the lowest possible price.

Payment and collection
Payment
Payment must be made within 8 working days of the end of the auction. Payments for items purchased by private individuals with an address in Sweden, Finland, Germany or Austria for total amounts of up to SEK 100.000 are made via Klarna’s payment service. Payment options, e.g. card payments or invoice, are shown on the payment page. Payments are made via bukowskis.com under ”My pages”. Payments for commercial customers and for private individuals for total amounts exceeding SEK 100.000 will be invoiced by Bukowski Auktioner AB. You will find your invoice at ”My pages” at bukowskis.com. Payment may also be made at the auction itself at Bukowskis’ premises at Berzelii Park. Please note that payments cannot be made in cash.
Collection
During 16–17 June it is possible for you to collect your paid objects and unsold objects at Bukowskis Arsenalsgatan 2 in Stockholm. Opening hours: Mon–Fri 9 am–5 pm.
As from June 23 all objects are available to be collected at Bukowskis, Västberga Allé 3 in Hägersten. Opening hours: Mon 9 am–5 pm, Tue 9 am–7 pm, Wed–Fri 9 am–5 pm, Sat 11 am–3 pm, Sun closed. .
As from July 18th a storage fee 50 SEK per item and day will be charged for uncollected items. Full payment must been received by Bukowskis before lots can be collected.
