More information

Fredrik Paulsen (b. 1980)
MFA, Royal College of Art, London 2010.

Paulsen's fascination for popular culture is a main focus in his work, when designing and reinterpreting our contemporary society. Using standard materials and uniform shapes he experiment and manipulates surfaces to create unique psycedelic finishes. A part of his design practice is to create new contexts and spaces for designers to work within. He is one of the founders of The Örnsberg auctions, one part of the design trio LAST and has a central role in the contemporary design scene. Paulsen is represented by Gallery Etage Projects in Copenhagen and exhibited frequently on the international art market. Solo exhibitions; Stoned, Etage Projects, Copenhagen 2015, Mikado TORRI, Paris 2015, Spectrum Etage Projects, Copenhagen 2013. Other exhibitions: Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara, Design Museum, Helsinki, The Salon, New York. He is also represented the the Collections of The Vitra Design Museum, Växjö Konsthall and Statens Konstråd of Sweden.

The Glass & Steel chair was a way for Paulsen to work with industrial materials in a new context and to experiment with the shift of values. The Glass & Steel chair was the starting point to explore new ways of craft, using industrial materials.
