A pair of Swedish porpyry vases on wooden bases, Älvdalen, first half of the 19th century.

On brown painted wooden bases/cabinets with slabs of porphyry on the front. Marked with paper label "lot n: 3" resp. "Lot n: 5" and "Sigrid von Essen" (S. von E. 1850-1924). The height of the vases 57, diam 60 cm. The height of the cabinet 121, width 52 cm.

Damaged edges.

Previously Wik castle, Uppland.

Literature

Schlegel, Bernhard, Stockholm, 1876, the lot probably described in the descprition of the Porphyry Collection at Wik castle as "Vaser, 2: ne af Blidbergsporfyr".
