Rahul Talukder was born in Bangladesh in 1991 and is a documentary photographer. What started as a passion for street photography later developed into his professional choice. In 2011, he joined Pathshala to study documentary photography and has since focused on various social and cultural issues.
In 2014, he was awarded the World Press Photo Award in the Spot News Story category for his story 'Collapse of Rana Plaza'. He also won awards such as the Sony World Photography Awards 2015 in the Professional - Conceptual category, Magnum Photos 30 Under 30, the 4th Lumix Foto Festival - Freelance Award, and the PX3 Prix de la Photographie. Rahul was granted the prestigious Ian Parry Scholarship in 2014, placed second in the Alexia Foundation Student Grant 2015, and was a finalist in the Sony World Photography Awards - Student Focus 2014. His work has been published in international media such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, and Sunday Times. He has also had exhibitions on both a local and international level, including in countries such as the United Kingdom, USA, Germany, Sweden, Russia, India, China, Greece, Australia, and many others.
