Full contemporary calf, sumptuously gilt-tooled to a panel design incorporating flowers. Bound by Christopher Schneidler (1721-1787) or his workshop according to a tipped-in catalogue entry. Spine with 5 raised bands, edges of boards gilt, gauffered gilt edges, inner dentelles, clasps intact. Marbled endleaves. Title with marginal repair, catalogue extract tipped-in on front flyleaf.

Christopher Schneidler was binder to Queen Lovisa Ulrika from 1754 and is regarded as possibly being Sweden’s foremost bookbinder ever.
