The themed auction Post-War Design presents a carefully selected collection of design pieces from the 1950s onwards. The focus is primarily on furniture, but lighting and ceramics are also represented. Characteristic of this period are clean lines, the balance between form and function, and the use of natural materials, steel, and then-new innovations like fibreglass and plastic.
Among the items are works by renowned names such as Bruno Mathsson, Hans J. Wegner, Poul Kjaerholm, Børge Mogensen, Arne Jacobsen, Finn Juhl, and Florence Knoll. What these designers have in common is that their creations have withstood the changing tides of style and remained relevant to this day.
The auction also includes a collection with provenance from Sven Lundh, founder of the esteemed furniture company Källemo. This collection features design classics by Hans J. Wegner, Jonas Bohlin, Erik Höglund, as well as furniture created by Bruno Mathsson for the house he designed for the family on Backagårdsgatan in Värnamo, built in 1955.
