Mauritz Karström was born in 1962 in Linköping and was educated at Lunnevads Folkhögskola outside Linköping, the Nordic Art School in Finland and at Valand in Gothenburg.
He expressed himself in bright and clear colours, similar to a spontaneous painting with abstract expressions that rarely follow any rules. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, painting became a way for Karström to calm his illness and anxiety, and the canvases were marked by his fixed emotions.
Karström is represented at the Gothenburg Art Museum, among other places.
