This Mandarin bead necklace was one of the souvenirs that Nina Fredriksson, 1885-1962, brought home to Sweden from China in 1946. During the raging First World War she travelled from Stockholm in 1916 via USA to China to work as a missionary and teacher at the Swedish Baptist Missions stations in China. First in Kiachow and from 1921-1946 in Gaomi (Kaomi), Shandong province (Shantung). In the photograph Nina Fredriksson is dressed in a Chinese robe with embroidered hat and shoes. Circa 1925.
