Gustavsberg 200 Years – Consignments are Open for Upcoming Auctions
We are looking for items from the Gustavsberg porcelain factory
We are seeing an increased demand for items from Gustavsberg, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year. Bukowskis wants to mark this anniversary during upcoming live auctions and online, with the curated theme auction Gustavsberg 200 years.
For upcoming auctions, we are now looking for ceramic pieces by Wilhelm Kåge, Berndt Friberg, Stig Lindberg, Tyra Lundgren, Lisa Larson and others.
Interest in pieces from Gustavsberg remains strong on the market. Bukowskis holds several auction records connected to the porcelain factory, such as the sale of Wilhelm Kåge's turquoise "dragon fish" from the 1950s during Modern Art & Design in the fall of 2019, sold for 586 500 SEK – a world record for the artist. Last year, Bukowskis also claimed the auction record for a single item by Stig Lindberg, when a model of the fountain in Umeå City Hall was sold for 240 500 SEK. Wilhelm Kåge initiated the workshop Gustavsbergs Studio in 1942, where he, together with Stig Lindberg and Berndt Friberg, developed proposals for new series and created primarily studio pottery. The studio goods are among the most sought-after from the factory on today's auction market.
