"White Glove" for the Anniversary Department 100 Years with Svenskt Tenn
High demand for items from Svenskt Tenn
In 2024, Bukowskis is marking Svenskt Tenn's 100th anniversary with a recurring anniversary department at the Modern Art & Design live auction. The autumn auction repeated its previous success and was once again sold as a "White Glove".
In recent years, Bukowskis has seen increasing demand for modern design, setting world record after world record for Josef Frank's unique cabinets for Svenskt Tenn. As part of the autumn edition of the Modern Art & Design live auction, a curated section was presented with items from Svenskt Tenn's early production, featuring rarities by renowned designers such as Estrid Ericson, Josef Frank, Anna Petrus, and Uno Åhrén.
Among the highlights were two "Flora" chests of drawers, each selling for a final price of 750 000 SEK, and a tin lamp by Anna Petrus, which soared in the bidding and doubled its estimate with a final price of nearly 200 000 SEK. In addition to furniture and crafts, two unique watercolours by Josef Frank also more than quadrupled their estimate.
The department was sold as a "White Glove", meaning all items were sold. Previous editions of the recurring theme auction "Josef Frank with Friends" have also achieved great success and high final prices this year.
