Christo, Klein, and Lichtenstein – International Highlights at Contemporary Art & Design

The second day of the live auction Contemporary Art & Design presented world-class art by international top artists such as "Untitled Blue Monochrome (IKB 154)" by Yves Klein, "The Pont Neuf, Wrapped (Project for Paris)" by Christo, and Roy Lichtenstein's "Reflections on Conversation".
The auction also included works by some of the very best contemporary international artists, including Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, and Keith Haring. Additionally, it showcased high final prices for Swedish artists such as Rolf Hanson, Ola Billgren, Jockum Nordström, Peter Frie, and Lena Cronqvist.
World-Class International Art
The painting "Untitled Blue Monochrome (IKB 154)" by Yves Klein became the auction's highest payed artwork, selling for a final price of 3,330,000 SEK after an exciting bidding war. Other top listings included "The Pont Neuf, Wrapped (Project for Paris)" by Christo, which sold for nearly 1,5 million SEK.
The autumn auction also presented works by international photographers, with the highest interest for portraits of icons from the music and fashion worlds. The most expensive work was Terry O'Neill's portrait of "Brigitte Bardot, Spain, 1971," which sold at a final price of 350 000 SEK.
Leon Tarasewicz doubled the estimate, and other popular names in the international department included Hermann Nitsch, Francesco Vezzoli, Jonathan Lasker, and Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg.
Sought-After Swedish Artists
Ola Billgren had several works in the Swedish department. “Liggande kvinna” from 1995 sold for a final price of nearly 800,000 SEK, and "Studio, augusti II" for 273,000 SEK.
Barbro Bäckström's three-dimensional work from 1987 doubled its estimate, achieving a high final price of 400,000 SEK.
The department also presented high interest for well-established artists such as Andreas Eriksson, Peter Frie, Jockum Nordström, and Lena Cronqvist.
High Final Price for Roy Lichtenstein
A final price exceeding one million SEK was also achieved in the prints department for Roy Lichtenstein's "Reflections on Conversation," which sold for a final price of 1,625,000 SEK.
Additional highlights from the department included eight works by Andy Warhol. All sold, with "Mick Jagger" fetching a final price of 750,000 SEK.
Francis Bacon, Robert Rauschenberg, and Keith Haring were other prominent artists who highlighted a very strong prints market featuring many international top names.
