The auction Childhood 25 Years is inaugurated with a royal presence
Royal presence at the preview of the auction Childhood 25 years
As royal warrant of appointment, Bukowskis presents, in proud collaboration with the World Childhood Foundation and Galleri GKM, the charity auction Childhood 25 years – an auction using art as a tool in the fight for children’s right to a safe upbringing.
For 25 years, the World Childhood Foundation has worked for children’s right to a secure upbringing free from sexual abuse. In connection with this year’s anniversary, Galleri GKM highlights Childhood’s efforts by donating 25 artworks, which are now being auctioned. All proceeds will go directly to Childhood.
The artworks convey playfulness and give art lovers a unique opportunity to contribute to children’s safety. The pieces have been selected by Galleri GKM to reflect the joy of life that every child has the right to experience, but which, unfortunately, not all get to enjoy. The auction invites everyone to acquire art while supporting Childhood’s efforts to prevent sexual abuse against children.
"Childhood is built on collaboration and courage," says Kenneth Bengtsson, Chairman of Childhood. "Together with bold project partners, partner companies, and passionate pioneers, we have invested over 130 million USD in more than 2,000 projects across 21 countries to protect children from sexual abuse. We’ve seen incredible progress since 1999, but we know we’re not done yet — we can never lean back when children are at risk. There must be more of us who notice, act, and invest in solutions that protect children. This auction is a brilliant example of action and commitment to making a difference — proof that art can not only move the soul but also change the world”.
On the evening of 9 October, art lovers, corporate partners, and friends of Childhood gathered at Bukowskis in the presence of H.R.H. Princess Madeleine for a preview of the artworks included in the auction.
"In order to support the organizations and passionate pioneers who work daily to protect children from sexual abuse, we need to join forces. Every contribution is both welcome and necessary to achieve our vision — a world where no child is subjected to sexual abuse. I hope and believe that this initiative and the colorful artworks can encourage more people to contribute to keeping children safe,” says HRH Princess Madeleine”, Vice Honorary Chair of Childhood.
