Sought-After 'Miss Flamingo' for AP Collection at Contemporary Art & Design
Miss Flamingo by Alexis Verstraeten & Pauline Montironi
Alexis Verstraeten and Pauline Montironi established their company, AP Collection, in 2015 with the vision of crafting the design world's interpretation of pop art through playful art furniture. Their now-iconic collection primarily draws inspiration from models by Artifort during the 1950s and 1960s. The couple themselves design the furniture, which acquires its unique character through the use of stuffed animals and fur.
One of their most acclaimed creations is the model Miss Flamingo, executed in 2017 and produced in only 30 + 3 pieces. From the start, it was highly coveted and quickly sold out through the manufacturer. Since then, it has become a sought-after item on the auction market. Bukowskis already holds the world record for the model, as it was sold for a final price of 460,000 SEK in 2021. The coveted model can now be found among the highlights being sold at the Bukowskis Contemporary Art & Design auction this spring.
