The specialist's choice – Lisa Gartz lists favourites from Important Spring Sale
Specialists choice Lisa Gartz
We have spoken with Lisa Gartz, Head Specialist Silver and Sculpture, who talks about the selection at this season's Important Spring Sale. She also takes the opportunity to list some of her favourite objects among the substantial amount of silver and sculpture at this spring's auction.
What can we look forward to in this season's Important Spring Sale?
– A wide selection of exquisite silver items is available at this spring's auction. We have everything for beautiful summer table settings, including elegant candelabras and candlesticks ranging from rococo to sleek classicism, sauce bowls, coffee pots, spice containers, and trays. You will also find beakers and tankards in the Baroque style, not to mention a fine collection of vintage model spoons. This time, the auction also includes a unique and extensive collection of top-class gold boxes, some with royal provenance.
In the Sculpture Department, we have a large variety, primarily consisting of slender bronzes, but also works in marble and Döderhultarn's charming carved wooden figures with their personal expression. We are proud to present some of Carl Milles' most important works, such as "Man and Pegasus", "Poseidon", "Wild Boar," and "Heraldic Lion", to name a few. You will also find exquisite animal sculptures by Arvid Knöppel and Nils Möllerberg's delicate female figures.

"Man and Pegasus' is Carl Milles at his best. Like few other sculptors, he truly liberates the figures from the ground and makes them soar towards the sky with a lightness that shouldn't be possible in bronze."
Knöppel's playful deer is so elegant, and through his animal sculptures, he demonstrates that he understands the movement and musculature of the animals down to the smallest detail.
The little "Humpe" from John Bauer's fairytale world is incredibly charming. Among Bauer's many fantastical creatures from the forest, the little troll son is a personal favourite, huddled on a rock. Can't you sense a little smile behind those curls?
Petter Eneroth, A Swedish 18th Century Rococo Silver Coffee pot
The coffee pot by Petter Eneroth, with its incredible details, is more like a sculpture than a utilitarian object and becomes a highlight on the set the table.
One can truly speak of a masterpiece in the exquisite royal presentation box in gold, adorned with the portrait of Gustaf III on its lid, once a gift from the king himself.
