Jean Dunand Palace "Piece Unique" – catalogue number 45

One of my favorites among the watches during the upcoming Important Timepieces auction is the Palace by Jean Dunand. Established in 2003, the Jean Dunand brand is known for creating unique masterpieces, paying homage to the renowned Swiss artist and designer, Jean Dunand, who was celebrated for his exquisite Art Deco designs. The Palace, introduced at the 2010 Basel World, is a wearable work of art that draws inspiration from the iconic structures of the Art Deco architecture, for exampel the Eiffel Tower.

Designed by the respected watchmaker Christophe Claret and backed by entrepreneur Thierry Oulevay, the Palace is a visually stunning watch with a linear GMT indicator, a power reserve indicator, a chronograph, and a tourbillon. The watch's primary inspiration is the cultural and societal transformation of Western civilization between 1880-1930, according to Thierry Oulevay.

Omega Speedmaster Jubilee 27 CHRO C12 - catalogue number 53

Another favorite is the limited edition 18K gold Omega Speedmaster from 1992. This watch commemorates the 50th anniversary of Omega's first chronographs featuring the caliber 27 CHRO C12, the caliber that was further developed and renamed caliber 321, and powered all Speedmasters until 1968. This exclusive edition, consisting of only 999 units, features a yellow gold case, a caliber 863 movement, and a sapphire-crystal, a first for a Speedmaster. It looks fantastic on the wrist and is sure to impress any collector.

IWC Yacht Club II "Jumbo" - catalogue number 64

A final pick from the upcoming watch auction is the rare IWC Yacht Club II. This particular model was introduced in 1977, during the Quartz crisis, and as a result, most Yacht Club II watches were produced with quartz movements. However, there are a few early exampels that feature an automatic movement, a caliber based on the Jaeger LeCoultre 889, which are very coveted by collectors.
