The specialist's choice – Lisa Gartz lists favourites

Specialists choice Lisa Gartz

We have spoken with Lisa Gartz, Head Specialist Silver and Sculpture, who talks about the selection at this autumn's Important Winter Sale. She also takes the opportunity to list some of her favourite objects among the substantial amount of silver at this fall's auction.

What can we look forward to in this autumn's Important Winter Sale auction?

– The Silver department can present a large selection of wonderful silver objects - from the most magnificent silver pieces of the Baroque to the elegant floral playfulness of the Rococo or Gustavian austere classicism. Here are some favourites, both Swedish and foreign silversmith creations, which you should not miss this season. The department has everything from real showpieces for the set table to small exquisite gold boxes of the highest quality.

Browse our web catalogue and do not hesitate to stop by for a viewing. You can also email or call me, and we will find a time that suits you. Welcome!

Viewing: December 1-6, Berzelii Park 1, Stockholm.

Daniel Lundgren Tureen with lid, silver. Rococo.

This dainty silver tureen is an absolute masterpiece from the Rococo era. Originally it was one of a pair, the other tureen of the pair is now part of the Royal Collections. The quality of the material has been used well, the shine of the softly shaped smooth surfaces stands in beautiful contrast to the richly decorated and asymmetrical handles, foot grips and lid knob decoration.

Abraham I Drentwett A German 17th century silver-gilt tankard. Augsburg 1645-50

The noble drinking tankard is a personal favourite. Baroque magnificent silverware can hardly be more flamboyant than this. Abraham I Drentwett was one of the foremost silversmiths of his time from Aaugsburg and the creator of, among other things, the silver throne at The royal castle in Stockholm.
