We have spoken with Marcus Kinge, Specialist Prints, who talks about the selection at this autumn's Modern Art + Design. He also takes the opportunity to list some of his favourite objects among the substantial amount of prints at this autumn's auction.
Why makes prints so attractive to you?
– Prints is a fascinating area for collecting art, where you can acquire high-quality works by international star artists without the price tag being too high. It is an excellent gateway for someone interested in starting to collect art, and you can get affordable works by artists whose other works today cost millions of dollars. It is an advanced craft involving various techniques and expressions, where the artist work closely with a printer, adding their own touch to the process. A tip is always to contact us and ask for a condition report before bidding, which we are happy to help with, as the condition can significantly impact the value of prints.

Keith Haring, From: ”Pop Shop I”
Keith Haring's art, which is influenced by the rise of graffiti, has defined the unique cultural environment that emerged in lower Manhattan in the 1980s. He made his mark not only on the prominent art galleries of his time but also on the music and fashion worlds. His art continues to catch the attention of passionate new collectors still today. The 1987 auction piece from "Pop Shop", named after his iconic shops in New York and Tokyo, is a wonderful example of his distinctive expression, which is now sought after by collectors and art lovers worldwide.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser ”Midori No Namida”
Painting, architecture, ecology and printmaking - in all areas, Friendensreich Hundertwasser's work was imbued with a passion for reconnecting man and nature and filling life with beauty. The one thing he never used in his creation was the straight line - the form that, in his view, was the only one invented by man alone that does not exist in nature. He also demonstrated this in his stunning graphic work, which often combined different techniques and processes. His carefully composed portfolios are personal favourites, like the Midori no Namida in the auction.
