Sensational result for Bukowskis International Fine Art auction, Modern Art + Design
Iconic work by Otto G Carlsund sells for SEK 9,187,500
The Nordic region's leading Modern Art + Design auction resulted in record prices and several ”White Glove Sales” for various prestigious collections. Art and Design sold for a total final price of SEK 107 million; the best auction ever at Bukowskis for Modern Art and Design. A result that strengthens Bukowski's position as the Nordic region's leading auction house. Ahead of the season's closing Fine Art auction; the Important Winter Sale, Bukowskis has already achieved a season total of SEK 166 million.
– The auction resulted in several historically significant works that sold at high final prices. “It is enjoyable to see how we touch on Bukowski's previous world record for a work by Otto G Carlsund when ”Lokomobil” reached a final price of SEK 9,187,500” says Lena Rydén, Head of Art, specialist in Modern Art.
› Gösta Adrian-Nilsson, ”Sjömän”, sold for a final price of SEK 6 125 000
Otto G Carlsund's early work ”Lokomobilen (La machine à vapeur)”, a work that has never been for sale before, became the auction's highest result with its final price of SEK 9,187,500. Further highlights include Gösta Adrian-Nilsson’s (GAN) magnificent painting ”Sailors” (sold for SEK 6,125,000 ), followed by ”Sailors in Gothenburg” (sold for 3,920,000 SEK). These two masterpieces sold at excellent final prices. Carl Kylbergs, ”Segeltorkning (II)”, achieved a final price of SEK 4,042,500.
