Success for autumns anniversary auction Contemporary Art + Design

From left; Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg; 'Crocodile, Egg, Man', Jonas Bohlin; 'Slottsbacken', Banksy; 'Girl with Balloon'.

Auction record - the most expensive Swedish contemporary artwork by a living artist ever sold.

The evening's sensation was Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg's work 'Crocodile, Egg, Man' which was sold for a final price of 19 495 000 SEK, a new world record for the artist duo and the most expensive Swedish contemporary work sold at auction. The biding went on for twenty minutes, with several bidders on the phone.

Bukowskis anniversary auction reached several world records and the internationally known "Karin & Lars Hall collection" became a very successful sale. Artworks by Swedish icons such as Lena Cronqvist, Marie-Louise Ekman and Barbro Östhlin sold high above estimate, so did prints by international artists such as Andy Warhol, Banksy and Frank Stella.

It is fantastic to see how a now living artist is succeeding internationally and achieving top prices at our Contemporary Art auctions. Bukowskis is the only auction house in Scandinavia with an exclusive contemporary art sale and the result of today's auction proves our position as an important marketplace, says Louise Wrede, Specialist in Contemporary Art.

We also want to highlight shooting stars such as Paul Fägerskiöld with the work Untitled and Linn Fernström with the magnificent painting Flygförsök, whose work achieved a final price of SEK 267,000 and SEK 976,000, respectively.

The department of graphics was world-class and all works by Banksy sold high above estimate, with the iconic motif Girl with Balloon in the lead for SEK 2,206,555.

When an iconic motif such as" Girl with Balloon" is hammered, there is always an extraordinary nerve in the auction hall. The unbelievable result shows that we have succeeded to reach buyers around the world. "Girl with Balloon" reached a price that stands out well according to an international standard, says Marcus Kinge, Specialist Prints.

The interest in high-quality photography is extensive. Bukowskis are pleased with the successful sale of Karin & Lars Hall Collection, a famous collection of photography, collected by Karin & Lars Hall. The collection has grown over many years with passion and interest for photography and interest, bought through auctions, galleries as well as gifts.

– *The results of the Hall collection of photography and the department of photography shows that there is a strong market for photography. Tonight there were both international and Swedish buyers, and it was a pleasure to see how images, rarely sold in Sweden reached high final prices. Some of my personal favourites are Charles Jones, André Kertész and Annie Leibovitz, says Karin Aringer, Specialist photography and contemporary art.

Within the department of design, there were many highlights, however, the Swedish artist Jonas Bohlin, was the winner of today's sale. His cabinet, "Slottsbacken" Källemo, 1987 reached the final price of SEK 382 500, a new world record for the model. Collectables from Philippe Zunino, Massimo Morozzi as well as contemporary designers such as Hanna Hansdotter and Nick Ross and post-modern classics by Mats Theselius reached strong final prices.

It is fantastic that Bukowskis now hold two world records of Bohlin's most iconic furniture such as the cabinet" Slottsbacken" and the previously sold "Concrete-chair", says Jonathan Jahn, Specialist Contemporary Design.
