Sweden may be a small country, placed in the periphery of Europe and USA. Despite that there are several fantastic collections in Sweden with international art, both in private possession as well as in museums. Galleries such as Samlaren, Svensk-Franska Konstgalleriet, Galeri Bleue and Galerie Pierre, introduced in an early stage international avantgardist art in Sweden. They exhibited some of the international artists included in this auction such as Jean Riopelle, Henri Laurens, André Lanskoy and Henry Moore. The auction Modern Art + Design includes several art works with provenances from these galleries, bought in the first half of the 20th century.
