Mersad Berber, visual artist, scenographer, and film screenwriter was born in Bosnia- Herzegovina in 1940. He completed his artistic studies at ALUO, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Berber became a guest lecturer at the Art Academy in Sarajevo in the 70s. In his paintings, Berber draws not only upon Bosnia and Croatia’s history, but also Western art historical masters. The combination of different techniques, mediums, and artistic and cultural traditions are at the heart of Berber’s artistic expression. He has in more recent years created scenography theatres in Zagreb, Sarajevo and Washington, and wrote the screenplay for the film “Tempo Secondo” from the 1980s.
