Aron Gerle was a Swedish artist born in Svalungebyn in Örs socken, Dalsland. He studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg and was involved in starting The School of the Artist's Association in Stockholm together with Richard Bergh. During his time as a student, Gerle made a living by painting portraits in graphite and coal. However he is more famously known as a landscape artist with motifs taken from the coast and the sea, while he was also interessted in animals, such as horses and birds.
