Dial with bronze-plated decoration of sea monsters, lacquered case with gilded decoration of pastelage, motifs of acanthus and ornamentation, the door with the Eye of God and figural scenes, Lower part with vanitas symbols and text. Marked with a crowned C on the back. Height 240 cm.

Later painting. Colour losses. Retouches. Pendulum missing. Not thoroughly examined.

Prins Carl, hertig av Västergötland (1861-1951), Arvfurstens palats, Gustav Adolfs torg, Stockholm.
Sålt Stockholms Auktionsverk, hösten 2014

Literature

LITTERATUR: Jan Mårtensson: Sofia Albertina - en prinsessas palats, Stockholm 2006, golvuret avbildat i interiör från prins Carls period i Arvfurstens palats sidan 94 Prinsessan Sophia Albertina testamenterade sitt palats genom fideikommiss till arvprinsen, som stod närmast efter kronprinsen i tronföljd. Prins Carl och hans hustru prinsessan Ingeborg bodde i Arvfurstens palats under 1800-talets slut och disponerade Villa Parkudden på Djurgården som sommarresidens. 1902 löste staten in Arvfurstens palats och familjen bodde en period i Byströms villa och hade också egendomen Fridhem utanför Norrköping. Golvuret, märkt med prins Carls ägarmonogram, finns avbildat på äldre fotografier från perioden då familjen residerade i Arvfurstens palats vid Gustav Adolfs torg.
