John Börén was a self-taught artist who pursued independent studies during trips to Italy and France. He regularly exhibited in Skåne and was a member of the group De tolv. His art often consists of still lifes with flowers and fruits, interiors, harmonious landscapes, and city scenes, using media such as oil, tempera, pastel, watercolour, wax crayons, or in skilfully executed intarsia, as in the painting that is for sale here, depicting a city in Spain. He is represented at the Malmö Museum and the Southeast Skåne Museum of Art in Tomelilla.
