Signed underneath on the wooden base T. Renqvist and dated -68. Patinated bronze, mounted on a wooden base. Length 45 cm, width 9.5 cm.

Wear. Worn patina in places and minor stains.

Torsten Renqvist om sin skulptur Robinson 1968:
"Daniel Defoes Robinson var ingen utbrytare. Defoe tog honom hem igen till det samhälle vars projektion han hela tiden varit.
Men idén om Robinson gick senare andra vägar, tror jag. Robinson kom att representera en individualismens yttersta punkt; föreställningen att det är möjligt för en människa att göra alltsammans själv, att vara alltsammans själv.
Det gick visst inte. Den idén led skeppsbrott mot numera kartlagda skär. Men Robinson sjönk inte. Jag tänker mig att han driver på en planka eller i en dålig båt. En farkost som rymmer en minimal men vidunderlig trygghet. Och jag tror att han flyter iland på bebodda kuster."
