Stoneware, signed. Gunnar Nylund: a vase with white glaze 25 cm, heart-shaped dish 22 cm, bowl with black glaze 15 cm, and bowl with blue glaze 10 cm. Carl-Harry Stålhane: two bowls with brown and beige glaze respectively 12 cm.
Minor wear. Marks. Brown bowl with a defect to foot rim. Beige bowl is second quality.
Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramicist, designer and sculptor. Gunnar Nylund was active for periods at Bing & Grøndahl, for a few years had his own workshop, Saxbo stentøj, and worked at Nymølle ceramic factory in Denmark. For most of his working life he lived in Sweden and was employed at Rörstrand porcelain factory 1931-59 where he was also assigned the role of artistic director. He has become known for his many different animal sculptures in stoneware, but he also made lots of vases, bowls, lamp bases, etc., as well as tableware and other utensils. Nylund also designed glass for Strömbergshyttan.
