Awarded to Croatian diplomats during World War II. Made between the spring of 1941 to the spring of 1945 when Croatia was an independent vassal state under Germany and Italy. In the bud are the letters, NDH, 'Nezavisna Drzava Hrvatska', meaning 'The Independent State of Croatia'. In the middle of the crossbar is a folk Croatian pattern. This is also repeated at the top of the scubbard.
