Olle Gill was born in Älvdalen and studied at the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm under the tutorship of Otte Sköld. Gill was a part of what one usually refers to as "1947 års män" which were a group of artists which exhibited at the gallery "Färg och Form" in 1947 with the title "Ung konst". Other artists of the group included Lennart Rodhe, Olle Bonniér, Pierre Olofsson, Randi Fisher, Karl Axel Pehrson, Lage Lindell and Uno Vallman. Gills motifs includes landscapes, interiors with figures, and abstract still lifes.
