Christer Chytraéus (b. 1985, Kalmar) is an artist and writer, living in Stockholm. His work intertwines sculpture, painting and everyday objects in spatial installations. The starting point often concerns thoughts about eternal life and parallel realities.
Chytraéus is trained as a glassblower at the Riksglassskolan in Orrefors. He started at Konstfack as the youngest student and has a Master of Fine Art. During a short period at Konstfack, he made a series of vases, which are characterized by great craftsmanship, but where different chemicals were used to make the glass mass age in different stages.
Chytraéus' work has been shown at: Växjö Konsthall (Växjö 2021), Galleri Termotech (Sundbyberg 2020), Hangmen Projects (SE 2020), The NTK Gallery (Prague, 2019), Galleri Cora Hillebrand (Gothenburg 2019), Riche (Stockholm 2013), The Glass Factory (Boda, 2012).
He is the author of the novel LIVIA (2019, Bokförlaget Mormor). A story with inspiration from his time as an artist's assistant to the Sculptor Hertha Hillfon.
