Mona Morales-Schildt (1908-1999)

Artist Mona Morales-Schildt (Gothenburg 1908 - Almuñécar, Spain 1999) studied at the Högre Konstindustriella Skolan in Stockholm (now University of Arts, Crafts and Design) and in Paris, at Paul Colin's advertising and painting school. In the 1930s she worked both at the Gustavsberg porcelain factory, where she was assistant to Wilhelm Kåge, and at Arabia in Finland. After twelve years at NK's crafts and design department, Morales-Schildt moved in 1958 to Kosta Glasbruk, where she was one of the first female glass artists.
Morales-Schildt had practised under Paolo Venini and was inspired by his art; the exclusive 'Ventana' series was created in collaboration with Kosta's master glassmaker Bengt Heintze starting in 1959, the same year Venini passed.
Artek in Helsinki presented Mona Morales-Schildt's art glass with a solo exhibition in 1959 and again in 1970. Her art can be found at the National Museum in Stockholm.
