Yrjö Edelmann (1941-2016)

Yrjö Edelmann är en finsk/svensk bildkonstnär född i Helsingfors. Edelman bedrev studier vid Konstakademien i Stockholm. Tidigt i sin karriär illustrerade Edelmann serietidningar och bokomslag. Ända sedan den konstnärliga debuten i 30-årsåldern har han arbetat med oljemåleri och grafik. Edelman har bland annat ställt ut i New York, Tokyo och Paris. Hans målningar är illusionistiska med en ljus färgskala påverkade av amerikansk fotorealism. Han är mest känd för sin mycket speciella trompe-l’oeil motiv, där hans superrealistiska motiv med skrynklat papper, kuvert och servetter har väckt stort internationellt intresse. Han debuterade 1973.
