More information

Carl Richard Söderström (b. 1960) has his studio in central Stockholm. He is educated in ceramics and glass at Konstfack in Stockholm. Söderström works mainly in a black stoneware clay where he works out shapes and structures from his inner fantasy world. His artistic creation revolves around investigating traditional craft methods in ceramics, where the research and experiments he has performed serve as a constant inspiration for future works. His influences from nature are clear and they are modeled directly from the clay. Abstract objects, bulky and distorted, with shapes that denote both vegetation and essence, emerge from an intuitive way of working where the process itself is as important as the finished result.

Carl Richard Söderström has exhibited at the Moderna Museet, ArkDes and Berg Gallery in Stockholm, Röhsska in Gothenburg, Saatchi and Flow Gallery in London and Galerie NeC in Paris. Carl Richard Söderström also works with public commissioned sculptures in bronze.
Carl Richard Söderström is represented at Nationalmuseum, Stockholm with the stoneware sculpture "Dancing Bear", 2021, NMK 57/2022.
