Bland de många ömsinta porträtt av små barn som Strömholm mött på sina resor finns bilden av de två små pojkarna som med nyfiken men samtidigt allvarlig uppsyn möter fotografens blick mitt i leken på en gata i Paris. Bilden är typisk för Strömholms många barnporträtt, bilder med ett psykologiskt djup som alla präglas av en ensamhet och isolering som kanske går att finna i Strömholms egen barndom.
Pojkarna är en av Strömholms mest älskade motiv och har blivit ikonisk.
