A massive majolica jardinere, late 19th century, possibly by the Sergei Poskochin manufactory, Morje, St Petersburg.

Unmarked. Round with a flared rim, decorated in high relief with flowers around the body. The rim and the band around the foot glazed in a turquoise colour. Height 79 cm. Diameter 76.5 cm.

Chips, crack to base.

Provenance

Depicted in the book about Grand Hotell Régis, and depicted in Carolina Cadiers apartment, page 48.

According to tradition, this piece was brought over from Russia.
