Square tableware has to be placed exactly in line with the table or else it will be out of sync. This is why round objects always work. But if you look for any other geometrical shape we have found that the pentagon is the best shape to combine a certain geometrical integrity without having to adapt to the surrounding order.
Geometry – as in the Arabic mathematical tradition – is also the inspiration for the routed étoile pattern. This is not only for decoration but provides drainage when serving meat etc. Finally, to soften the mathematics and adding humanism we have rounded the pentagon.
