More information

Per Mårtensson, born in 1969 in Malmö, studied at the Malmö Art Academy and Kristianstad Art School. He lives and works in Malmö. In his paintings, he uses various shades of white on large metal plates. In his sculptures, he works with the existing exhibition space to create a unique atmosphere for the viewer. He employs art historical references without falling victim to postmodern pastiches, and instead explores the boundaries of painting by using a conventional art form.

A selection of his solo exhibitions includes: Galerie Zink, Munich (2010); Färgfabriken, Stockholm (2009); and Elastic, Malmö (2009). A selection of group exhibitions he has participated in includes: El Gabinete Blanco/The White Cabinet, Mexico (2010); Evidences of the Paranormal, Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, New York (2009). Mårtensson is represented in collections at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Malmö Art Museum, Colección Jumex in Mexico City, Göteborgs Konstmuseum, Region Skåne, Växjö Municipality, Stockholm Art, Statens Konstråd, and several private collections in Sweden, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, the USA, Denmark, Norway, Mexico, Switzerland, Iceland, and Belgium.
