Oscar Törnå studerade i Stockholm, Düsseldorf och Paris. I Frankrike kom han i kontakt med det nya friluftsmåleriet och blev dess introduktör i Sverige. Han uppvisade stor teknisk skicklighet i sina skildringar av den franska landsbygden med det rofyllda livet i byarna. I Sverige hämtade han sina motiv främst från stockholmstrakten samt från Södermanland och Östergötland.
Representerad på Nationalmuseum i Stockholm samt på konstmuseerna i Göteborg och Malmö.
