'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' 神奈川沖浪裏, (Kanagawa-oki Nami Ura 'Under the Wave off Kanagawa') was originally created in 1831 by Hokusai as the first part of his famous series 'Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji' 富嶽三十六景 (Fugaku Sanjūrokkei). The motif has come to be one of the most well-known artworks in the world, included in the art history canon.
