Design Sale Helsinki F503

Bukowskis presents Design Sale Helsinki – Finland’s leading auction for modern design. The auction presents several impressive lots by sought-after Finnish and international designers. Among the many highlights of the auction, you will find a Tiffany Studios Art Nouveau table light, a large scale wall relief by Birger Kaipiainen, a 1960s 'Dolphin chair' for Skanno by Ilmari Taipovaara and a unique glass plate by Tapio Wirkkala.

Wirkkala’s “Drop Leaf” glass plate was designed for Iittala in 1946, and was exhibited at the Milan Triennale in 1951. The leaf plate was a gift from Tapio Wirkkala to his artist colleague Erkki Vesanto, who used the art object as a base for a watering can, why it has scratches and traces of calcification on its surface. The auction also features an exciting selection of glass objects and furniture by several renowned Italian designers. Alessandro Pianon is represented with a collection of Murano glass birds from the 1960s, Tomaso Buzzi, with a hand-blown Murano chandelier and Fulvio Bianconi with his multi-coloured "Spicchi" vase.

Online Auction: October 16 – 30
