Johan Berggren Gallery, Malmö.
Jasper Spicero was born in 1990 in Yankton, USA. He lives and works in Brooklyn, USA. His sculptures, created from mundane objects, are the result of his profound exploration of the internet and his favourite video games. His art follows actors within environments that purport the hope of transformative change, such as schools, hospitals, prisons, and mental heath facilities. Through his fascination with video game-like narratives and his use of emptied, simplified orchestral music, he makes those promises strange and unfamiliar.
His exhibitions include: ‘Celebration For Simple’, Kaje World, NY (2021), ‘unguarded’, Mother Culture, CA (2020), ‘Centinel’, Swiss Institute, NY (2019), and ‘The Glady Day’, Times Square Space, NY (2018). In Sweden, he has exhibited at: ‘Miser Chord’, Johan Berggren, Malmö (2017), ‘Century School’, Johan Berggren, Malmö (2016), and ‘Poetry Will Be Made By All!’, Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
