More information

Tiril Hasselknippe, born in 1984 in Arendal, Norway, was educated at the Malmö Art Academy and Lund University. She currently lives and works in Stavanger, Norway. Her art draws inspiration from the techno music scene as well as films, creating a kind of science fiction of formalism in which the balance between the sacred and primitive, the natural and artificial are present. She works with steel, concrete, fibreglass, and resin to propose object-based solutions to evade humanity's downfall. Her sculptures exude authority through their volume, size, and weight.

Recently, she has held solo exhibitions at Hyperstate, Magenta Plains in New York; Kunsthall Stavanger in Norway; NITJA in Lillestrøm; and DREI in Cologne. Her latest group exhibitions include: 'Phantom Space' at LORE DEUTZ in Cologne; 'Viewing Room 1' at Magenta Plains in New York; 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' together with Kah Bee Chow and Emelie Sandström at Salgshallen in Oslo; and 'Friends & Family' at Magenta Plains in New York. Her art is represented at the University of Oslo, Lund's Art Hall, Lund University, and the National Public Art Council Sweden.
